Karatin Smoothing Treatment Questions & Answers

Bio Ionic
Actual before and after results on one of Sarah's customers.
Here at Salon La Diva, we use Bioionic by KeraSmooth; a formaldehyde free Keratin smoothing product. Please call and schedule a free consultation before booking your appointment. Prices upon consultation.

Q:  What product do you use for your Keratin Smoothing complex?
A:  We use the KeraSmooth by Bioionic.  This product is formaldehyde free and contains no derivatives of formaldehyde.  It is safe for both stylists and clients.

Q: Why does the Keratin Smoothing Treatment cost so much?
A: The keratin smoothing treatment is a time consuming process that takes 2-3 hours depending on the hair type. During that time your stylist will perform multiple steps to insure the best results. This treatment lasts for 3-5 months and will cut your styling time in half.

Q: How does the smoothing treatment work?
A:  First we clarify the hair, then put on the keratin smoothing cream, process depending on the hair condition, rinse, shampoo, dry the hair and then flat iron the hair completely straight.

Q: Will the smoothing treatment damage my hair?
A:  It will help the hair. This is a protein treatment designed to strengthen your hair and add shine.  It helps protect hair from heat and environmental elements that leaves the hair smoother and more manageable.

Q: Does this treatment permanently get rid of my curls?
A: The Keratin treatment is not a chemical relaxer, but a progressive smoothing treatment.  This process reduces your curl and frizz. As the 3-5 months pass, the hair slowly reverts back to its natural texture.  If you continue to receive keratin treatments the hair will build up more keratin and have a smoother result.

Q: How do I take care of my hair after the smoothing treatment?
A: You will need to keep the hair dry for 72 hours.  Absolutely no washing or getting hair wet, wearing clips, hair bands or hats or any sort.  When the 72 hours are complete you must shampoo and condition with the salon recommended products, as other products may strip the complex from the hair.

Q: What is the cost of the follow-up treatment?
A: The cost is the same as the initial service. The process is repeated the same way each time, start to finish.

Q: Can my hair be colored after the treatment?
A: Yes, you can color before or after the keratin treatment.  We recommend to color before the treatment because the keratin will lock in your hair color.
